Referendum in Macedonia is in accordance with the constitution

The Constitutional Court of Macedonia today rejected a proposal to declare the upcoming referendum scheduled for September 30 unconstitutional, MIA agency reported.

The proposal, submitted by Judge Elena Goseva, was rejected by votes of seven judges of the Constitutional Court, while two were in favor of it.

Judge Goseva had previously proposed suspending all activities regarding the referendum until the court judged its constitutionality.

The initiative for assessing the constitutionality of the referendum was also submitted by the Levica party and the organization named World Macedonian Congress.
