The water receded, the damage shows up

Heavy rain which caused serious floods across Serbia with the state of emergency declared in 12 places, eased and the level of water was gradually dropping on Tuesday, but some rivers were expected to rise, state RTS TV reported.

In other parts of the country emergency situation was also declared and the forecast was that the Sava river level would rise in the western town of Sabac and in Belgrade, but there would be less rain in the next two days.

The most endangered areas are Kraljevo, Knic, Trstenik, Lusani, Ivanjica, Arilje, Vrnjacka Banja, Gruzija, Guca.
Deputy head of the National Emergency Centre Boban Stevanovic said the next step would be to enable 297 people, who were evacuated on Monday, to return home and to estimate the damage the floods had caused so far.

As Stevanovic emphasized, the most important is that roads are passable.
