THACI IN THE HAGUE

I have not committed any crimes

The President of Kosovo Hashim Thaci told prosecutors in The Hague that he had not committed any crimes during the 1998-1999 war.

Thaci was interrogated for four days for his role and responsibilities during the war and the period covered by the mandate of the Specialized Court.

“If they do it in a professional, impartial and honest way, they can easily conclude that I have not committed a crime or violation,” he told reporters outside the court in The Hague as a small group of supporters chanted his name.

No one can rewrite history, Thaci announced in The Hague

In late June, a special tribunal charged Thaci with war crimes

At the end of June special tribunal has accused Thaci of war crimes and crimes against humanity during the 1998-1999 conflict with Serbia, which brought independence to Kosovo.

Thaci and others are accused of “criminally responsible for nearly 100 murders“, as well as other crimes against Serbs, Gypsies and others.

Later this year a judge will decide whether charges should be formally brought against the most influential Kosovo politician.

Thaci said before that he would resign if the allegations are confirmed.
