BORELL
"The EU is not complete without the Western Balkans"
EU foreign minister Joseph Borell said today that the EU would not be complete without the Western Balkans.
But he also warned that the countries of the region could progress towards membership only if they "stood together, with united heads and hearts in finding common ground", reported Tanjug.
In a video message on the occasion of the debate in the European Parliament's Foreign Affairs Committee on the situation in the Western Balkans 25 years after Dayton, Joseph Borrell said that the signing of the Dayton Accord was an important act for the whole of Europe, which marked the end of the war in the heart of Europe, in which 100,000 people died and a million were exiled.
"After 25 years since the signing of Dayton the countries of the region are moving resolutely, each at its own pace, towards the EU," said Borell.
In addition to the reform commitments necessary for the progress on the path to European integration, Borell also insisted on reconciliation in the region.
