PROSECUTOR ON THE MOVE

Stojanovic: Police has finished its part of the work

Director of Police Slavko Stojanovic said that the killers of basketball player Ljubo Jovanovic, who was murdered two years ago in Cetinje, are not in Montenegro, but the police knows the names of the perpetrators.

''We know the names of perpetrators, but because of the investigation I am not in a position to disclose more details“, said Stojanovic in the interview for Radio Crne Gore.

In his first address to the press after assuming the office, he said that there are continuous developments in resolving the case of murder of Darko Bugarin who was killed in Kotor ten days ago. He said that he thinks „that in the future we will reach more tangible police information regarding the detection of the perpetrators".

Stojanovic expects soon identification of the perpetrators of killing of Milos Vidakovic in Budva.

Stojanovic repeated that Darko Saric and Safet Kalic are not in Montenegro.

''Police investigation about arrestment of so called “big fish” is finished. The case is in the Prosecutor Office and we now wait for its further realization“, announced Stojanovic, without revealing who they are.

Stojanovic states that in the fight against organized crime substantial progress has not been made, but he notes that the significant activities have been undertaken on cutting certain channels and actions of criminal groups.

''The final document about criminal groups will be finished in the last quarter of this year with working title “Sokta”. Knowledge and gathered information show that there will probably be 25 registered organized criminal groups, which is 30% less than last year“, said Stojanovic.

Stojanovic admits that there are some weaknesses in communication between Prosecutor Office and police, but says that identified issues would be solved together.

''It is our wish the Prosecutor Office to react faster when it comes to managing and deepening police operational knowledge“, added Stojanovic.

The task of the police, he explained, in the future will be to look for corruption, and not vice versa. He believes that the conditions existed for arrest of MANS activists, noting that he expected detailed internal control report, after which the police would position itself professionally.

Stojanovic confirmed for Radio Crne Gore that he proposed to the Minister of the Interiors Rasko Konjevic, three of his assistants, for the Sector of Criminal Police Milan Tomic, the Sector of Border Police Vesko Vukadinovic and the Department for Protection of Persons and of Facilities Predrag Asanin, with whose selection the operational management will be completed.
