Ministry of Internal Affairs makes record and State Electoral Commission controls electoral list

The Ministry of Interior should keep a record of polling lists, and the State Election Commission should have a controlling role in this process, it is estimated at today's session of the Working Group for building confidence in the electoral process.

Democratic Front official Goran Danilovic said that voter lists should be in the control of the police, and that the role of the supervisory authorities should have the SEC, warning that its members would have to do their job professionally.

''Change SEC jurisdiction, in the sense that its members must do their job professionally and they should be elected every four years", he pointed out.

Official of Positive Party, Azra Jasavic said that it is of essential importance that the electoral lists are available to all political parties. She proposed making the registration of voters in the Diaspora.

On the other hand, DPS official Miodrag Vukovic believes that the supervisory control of political parties is not the best solution.

Representative of the Socialist People's Party Neven Gosovic stated that the experience of other countries shows that a record of voters' lists is not under the jurisdiction of police, but of the Ministry of Justice.

Social Democratic Party representative Suljo Mustafic agrees that only one institution should take care of the electoral list.

DF official Milutin Djukanovic said that it would be good idea if the Working group called police to publish in the newspaper a list of people who don’t have biometric ID cards.
