MEMBERS OF EUROTRANSPLANT

Easier to organ transplants

Montenegro has become a member of Eurotransplant, which will make organ transplants more available to Montenegrin patients and the waiting time for transplantation will be significantly reduced, Health Minister Kenan Hrapovic said.

At the press conference on the occasion of the second cadaveric transplantation in Montenegro, organized by the Ministry of Health and the Clinical Center of Montenegro (KCCG), he stated that the Montenegrin health system has made a historic breakthrough in the field of transplantation medicine.

"On September 4, Montenegro became a member of Eurotransplant, the largest non-profit international organ transplant organization. Eurotransplant mediates and coordinates the exchange of organs for transplantation between transplantation centers, laboratories and donor hospitals in the most developed European countries," Hrapovic said.

He explained that Montenegro, by becoming a member of Eurotransplant, became a member of the family of 100 million inhabitants which make the possibility of obtaining organs more certain.

He believes that the good news is that a Montenegrin family has signed a consent to the donation of an organ of its member who died due to brain death.
