Radar for Montenegro sign that members are helping each other

The new radar that NATO has given to Montenegro shows that member states are helping each other, said Alliance Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg.

"The purpose of NATO is solidarity, to protect and defend one another and to help each other." The new radar we give to Montenegro shows that we really help each other,"Stoltenberg told a press conference ahead of the meeting of NATO defense ministers to begin tomorrow in Brussels.

As he said, this is the reason, especially for small countries, to be part of NATO,"because they are part of the family, the organization, where we help and support each other."

"It is important for Montenegro, but it is important for all NATO allies," Stoltenberg said.

He added that not only smaller members were supported and, as an example, mentioned heavy investments in infrastructure in Poland.

"This shows that NATO provides assistance in investing in infrastructure in many member states," said the Secretary General of the Alliance.

Speaking about the process of ratification of the Protocol on the Accession of Northern Macedonia, Stoltenberg said that NATO enlargement is an excellent, successful story that has helped spread democracy, stability and prosperity throughout Europe.

He reminded that the Allies signed the Accession Protocol in February and added that it was not certain whether that country would be able to become NATO member by December.

Defense Minister PredragBoskovic will participate in the two-day meeting.
