Great potential for development of health tourism

Further improvement of the health system of Montenegro is one of the preconditions for even more quality positioning of our country as a prestigious tourist destination, because Montenegro has great potential for the development of health tourism, it was announced at the meeting of Prime Minister DuskoMarkovic with the delegation of the European Forum of Medical Associations(EFMA LC).

The Prime Minister of Montenegro welcomed a delegation led by Secretary General of the World Medical Association Dr. OtmarKloiber, which is staying in our country to prepare the XXXIV annual meeting of the Forum, announced for the end of August in Podgorica.

The Prime Minister thanked the Forum for the decision to hold this year's meeting in our country in cooperation with the Medical Chamber of Montenegro.

President Markovic informed the EFMA LC delegation that healthcare is one of the areas that are in the focus of the Government, and that the Government and the corresponding ministry continually work on improving the quality of citizens' health care and standards of health employees.

"As a confirmation, the Prime Minister stated the facts that over the past four years a modern health equipment worth more than 9 million Euros has been procured, that procurement of equipment worth 5 million euros was planned, that more than 8 million euros was invested in the reconstruction and adaptation of health facilities, directly and through the program of improving energy efficiency, and that 234 doctors returned to the health system with the title of specialist,"the government announced.

430 doctors were sent to the specialization, with funds provided by the Budget.

"The Prime Minister informed the interlocutors that over the past two years, 160 medical workers solved the housing issue and that the Government concluded an agreement with the trade unions on the provision of funds for solving the housing needs of health workers, worth 1.2 million euros by 2020," it was said in the statement.

In this context, Dr. Kloiber congratulated the Government on the current reforms of the health system and society as a whole, and on a successful development policy, saying that Montenegro is now an integral part of Europe.
