Our economy is not ready for a four-day work week
It is too early to talk about the introduction of a four-day working week in Montenegro, according to the Union of Free Trade Unions.
A number of smaller companies are adopting the concept of a four-day work week, and the latest test results from Microsoft suggest that it might work for larger companies as well.
Microsoft unveiled its "Work-Life Choice Challenge" project in Japan this summer, during which it closed its offices every Friday in August and gave all employees an extra day off during the week.
The results were extremely encouraging.Although the amount of time spent at work has been dramatically reduced, productivity has increased by almost 40 percent comparing to the same period the year before.
The Employers Union, however, says that in order to talk about such an idea, our economy should be stronger.
"At the moment, the Montenegrin economy is not at a satisfactory level and it is too early to talk about this idea at the system level," said Legal Affairs and Social Dialogue Advisor at UPCG Filip Lazovic during the TVCGMorning Show.
