Law on Freedom of Religion passed

The Parliament of Montenegro adopted, earlier this morning, the Law on Freedom of Religion. 45 MPs voted in favor of the law, there were no votes against it nor abstentions.

Previously, all amendments to the Law filed by the Democratic Front (DF) were rejected.

The Assembly session resumed after police arrested the DF MPs, over an incident they caused in the hall.

The Law stipulates that religious buildings and land used by religious communities in the territory of Montenegro that have been constructed, that is, obtained from the public revenue of the state or were state property until December 1, 1918, and for which there is no evidence of being the property of religious communities, shall be state property.

It is specified that with regard to the existence of evidence, the means of proof and rules of evidence shall be applied in accordance with the Law on Administrative Procedure and, subsidiary, with the Law on Civil Procedure.

In the Assembly Hall, after the Law was passed, a serious incident happened and all DF MPs were arrested.
