INSTITUTE OF PUBLIC HEALTH SAID

Tourists from China without symptoms of coronavirus

According to the Institute of Public Health (IJZ) three tourists from China staying in Budva have no symptoms of coronavirus which has claimed at least 80 lives in China.

IJZ said that after the official announcement from the competent health services from Budva were given, epidemiological teams of the Institute of Public Health of Montenegro, together with health sanitary inspection and local epidemiological services, carried out epidemiological research due to the suspected coronavirus infection with three tourists from China.

"Epidemiological research have found that patients do not meet the epidemiological criteria for the case definition," the Institute for Public Health said in a statement.

According to the epidemiological analysis of the statement not a single patient was residing in Wuhan, the city which is the epicenter of the epidemic, nor in Hubei province 14 days before the onset of symptoms.

"The aforementioned tourists did not meet any of the elements of case definition developed for supervision by the World Health Organization and applied in Montenegro for supervision of 2019-nCoV. All patients were diagnosed with mild upper respiratory tract symptoms characteristic for a mild cold only. One passenger reportedly had slightly higher body temperature but it was not confirmed by a medical examination,"the statement said.
