Serbia has never got over Montenegro leaving

The latest developments on the Law on Freedom of Religion are an attempt to bring Montenegro back into the state frame work with Serbia, said Sonja Biserko, chair of the Helsinki Committee for Human Rights in Serbia, in an interview with Radio Montenegro. She points out that the Serbian elites have never got over leaving of Montenegro and added that they were not aware that Belgrade's behavior had driven out all its neighbors.

"Such conduct by Serbia has contributed to the emancipation of its neighbors and in this sense it is an irreversible process. This is the ultimate match that will further empower Montenegro and Montenegrins," Biserko said.

According to Biserko, Serbia has not yet reconciled with the internationally recognized borders in the Balkans and is continuing the policy of destabilizing its neighbors.

"The problem is that the Balkans as a region is very fragile and its states are unconsolidated which serves Serbia to easily destabilize the region through the Serbian minority or community in neighboring countries. By destabilizing the region, Belgrade ignores the situation and neglects developments in Serbia. Serbia is still in the project on unification of all Serbian ethnic territories, "Biserko emphasized.

In an interview with Radio Montenegro, Biserko explains that the Serbian Orthodox Church is the only cross-border institution that is legitimate and that it is the main carrier of the project of homogenization and integration of the Serbian process.
