One ton of cocaine seized, Montenegrin nationals arrested

A ton of cocaine was seized aboard cargo ship Aressa in Venezuela's waters and Montenegrin nationals were arrested in the action, the Police Directorate reported.

According to the Montenegrin police, acting in accordance with information they provided to the UK's partner services, a major international police operation has been carried out in Aruba, and more than one ton of cocaine has been seized on Aressa ship.

Aressa ship had been located and observed along the entire navigation on its South America route, with special surveillance measures applied every time it entered and leaved ports. After receiving operational information that cocaine was “loaded” on Aressa, the Royal Netherlands Navy intercepted the ship in Aruba and began a detailed search, which is still ongoing," police said.
They arrested Montenegrin nationals who were crew members.
It is suspected that cocaine should have been smuggled by this ship, from Colombia to one of the ports in Western Europe.
"The Montenegrin police have achieved significant results over the time through concrete and operational exchange of data with partner services by conducting joint investigations," the police reported.
