Simović, President of the Municipality of Nikšić

The Democratic Party of Socialists official Milutin Simović, is the new president of the Municipality of Nikšić. 23 members of the local parliament voted for Simovic.

Simovic took the oath and said that he belongs to the generation of Niksic people who have never forgotten their hometown. "Niksic was the hope of civil, European, secular and anti-fascist Montenegro," said Simovic.

He said Montenegro needs further steps on the path to the EU.

"We have seen in these two and a half months where the alternative path leads. A path that has not brought good for today's generations or descendants. Niksic should forever remain the name of Montenegrin self-confidence and a guarantee of a modern and prosperous Montenegro, and that depends on all of us who deal with public affairs, "Simovic said.

He also stated how we saw in the previous elections that the divided approach of pro-European policies leaded to, as Simovic added, results that endanger the survival of Montenegro.

"It must be a lesson for us to consolidate and unite all pro-European forces," Simovic said, adding that Niksic was the first opportunity for such an appearance.
