KLUS AND KORDIC

Slovakia is a friend of Montenegro and an advocate of enlargement policy

Slovakia has extensive experience in conducting the negotiation process and is ready to make its expertise available, with the aim of accelerating Montenegro's accession to the European Union (EU), said the State Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Slovak Republic Martin Klus in an interview with the chief negotiator ZorkaKordic.

He emphasized the friendly relations between the two countries, saying that Slovakia, as an EU member state, remains a strong advocate of the policy of enlargement to the countries of the Western Balkans and their inclusion in the Conference on the Future of Europe.

As it was announced, Kordic expressed gratitude for the bilateral cooperation and the support of Slovakia so far on the path to the EU.

She reiterated Montenegro's clear geostrategic orientation towards the EU, emphasizing that this is confirmed by full compliance with the EU's Common Foreign and Security Policy, as well as unequivocal determination in the implementation of reforms.

Kordic said that the Government is focused on achieving concrete results in the area of the rule of law, but that equal efforts are being made to improve other sectoral policies.

As she emphasized, the focus is on fulfilling the temporary criteria for Chapters 23 and 24. She also expressed the expectation that Montenegro will soon receive the final criteria which will be the driver for closing all the remaining chapters.
