JOKSIMOVIC

As many as 98% of those infected are unvaccinated

From April 1 until today, as many as 98 percent of those infected in Montenegro are unvaccinated citizens, said Dr. Milko Joksimovic, an epidemiologist at the Institute of Public Health of Montenegro, and called on citizens to be vaccinated.

"Out of 9,600 patients with coronavirus in Montenegro in the period from April 1 until today, as many as 9,400 of them are citizens who have not been vaccinated at all or received only the first dose or have not passed three to four weeks since revaccination, since all the time before that a person cannot be considered properly protected because the immune system needs time to react to the vaccine and achieve a protective effect," says Joksimovic.

Of these 9,600 only 200 citizens have been fully vaccinated and have passed three to four weeks since the second dose, hence were considered properly vaccinated.

"This means that, according to current data from April 1 until today, among the detected cases of coronavirus, about 98 percent of them were not vaccinated or were not properly vaccinated. Only two percent of newly infected in this period were properly vaccinated," stated Joksimovic and called for vaccination.

"That is why we invite you all to get vaccinated now, just today, in order to be protected in the fall. The calculation is as follows: If you get vaccinated on July 28, revaccination will follow on August 18. You should adhere to basic epidemiological measures by mid-September, when we will consider you properly vaccinated," stated Joksimovic and said that only in that way will the risks of severe and most severe consequences of the disease be reduced.
