Summit to send a message of commitment to enlargement policy

Today's summit European Union - Western Balkans should send a message of strong commitment of the EU and the WB to the enlargement policy, said the President of Montenegro Milo Djukanovic.

Djukanovic arrived at the European Union-Western Balkans summit, which is being held on Brdo near Kranj in Slovenia. Djukanovic was welcomed at the summit by the Prime Minister of Slovenia Janez Jansa.

"After last week's visit of the President of the European Commission we want today's Summit to send a message of strong commitment of the EU and WB to the enlargement policy, clear and foreseeable European perspectives for all countries in the region and understanding and acceptance of the geostrategic and geopolitical necessity of the integration of the Western Balkans countries into the EU. So, an open conversation with friends and partners, the way Montenegro perceives the EU," stated Djukanovic on Twitter.

The host of the meeting on Brdo near Kranj is Jansa, and it is chaired by the President of the European Council Charles Michel, who, together with the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Layen, will represent the EU.

The summit is seen as an opportunity to reaffirm the European perspective of the Western Balkans and its further integration into the EU, but also to provide additional impetus to the implementation of the European Investment and Economic Plan.

The summit will be attended by leaders of all 27 EU member states and the Western Balkans - Albania, BiH, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia and Kosovo.
