BOROVINIC BOJOVIC

Omicron is not registered in Montenegro, we must expect it

A new strain of the coronary virus omicron has not yet been registered in Montenegro but we must expect it to appear because we cannot view the country as an isolated system, said Minister of Health Jelena Borovinic-Bojovic.

She said that it is unserious to believe that omicron will not appear in our country.

"On the samples that were made by mid-November we know for sure that omicron was not detected in Montenegro, just as Delta plus strain was not detected," the Minister of Health stated in the show Link on RTCG.

As BorovinićBojovic adds, they continue to work and these days new samples are being collected and analyzed.

"For now, what has been detected so far, omicron has not been detected in Montenegro. We must expect that he will appear because we cannot view the country as an isolated system," said BorovinicBojovic.

In any case, she adds, vaccines protect and we are much safer if we are vaccinated.

"The possibility of getting omicron is certainly lower if you are vaccinated. Experts have not yet decided on the exact percentage the available vaccines protect against omicron. We expect that soon," said BorovinicBojovic.

She also said that citizens should not be guided by the level of antibodies, but that vaccination is the only way out.
