KURTI REPLIED TO THE PRESIDENT

Thacishould not make political assessments and threats

Vetevendosje leader AlbinKurti answered to Kosovo president HashimThaci asking him not to put pressure and impose creation of new government, but rather be patient and wait, Gazeta Express reports.

Kurti reminded Thaci that the Constitution of Kosovo recognizes neither the president’s discretion nor an active role in the process of appointing the prime minister, adding that the president should be impartial. Kurti further told Thaci that the president’s role is more ceremonial and “the Constitution recognizes no imposing role in forming the Government.” At the end of his letter, Kurti informed Thaci that they are about to reach an agreement with the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK).

Kosovo President HashimThaci wrote a letter on Friday to Kurti asking him to act quickly or “make way” for others to form government. Thaci asked Kurti to inform him whether the Vetevendosje is ready to propose the prime minister’s name or reject the mandate to form government, in order as Thaci said in his letter, “to proceed with giving mandate to someone else,” referring to the Constitutional Court.
