LEADERS OF THREE COUNTRIES

Vucic, Zaevand Rama have agreed

The document on free flow of goods, services, people and capital between Serbia, North Macedonia and Albania has been signed by leaders of three countries Aleksandar Vucic, Zoran Zaevand Edi Rama, today in Novi Sad.

Prime Ministers of Albania and North Macedonia and the President of Serbia signed a joint Declaration, which is based on four key European Union freedoms – flow of goods, capital, services and people.

The main issue for discussion of this trilateral meeting was establishing "mini Schengen" with the aim of improving the links of the regional markets, enabling free flow of goods, people, services and capital in the market of 20 million people.

Vucic said that the discussions have been to the benefit of the citizens of the three countries and that the goal was to enable them to cross the states’ mutual borders using only ID cards by the end of 2021.

He emphasised that the trucks in the Western Balkans are losing 26 million hours every year on border crossings, adding that the removal of those barriers would enable huge savings.

Vucic announced the next meeting in North Macedonia, on the Lake Ohrid, on November 10 when “the most concrete measures” would be agreed on.

"We are completely open for our partners from the Western Balkans Six, everyone is welcome. This initiative is of crucial significance for our economic and any other progress and I am convinced that our cooperation will become closer and better", Vucic said.
