BOROVINIC BOJOVIC

The Commission is preparing a response to the new wave

The Minister of Health, Jelena Borovinić Bojović, said that the Commission for the Fight against Covid with the experts of the World Health Organization has been working for three weeks on redefining the response to the new wave that is expected in September.

She emphasized that the current capacities for covid patients can be increased from 326 to 830 and more if there is a need. She pointed out that vaccination is the best answer to everything and appealed to citizens to get vaccinated.

A session of the Assembly is underway, at which the Minister of Health Jelena Borovinic Bojovic and the Minister of Ecology Ratko Mitrovic will answer the questions of the MPs.

MP Halil Duković said that all health experts warn that a new wave of coronavirus is ahead of  us in the fall and that the only answer is 80 percent of vaccinated.

"Is our health care system ready to successfully respond to this challenge?" Dukovic asked.

The Minister answered that in Montenegro, 170,000 people received the first dose of the vaccine, while 150,000 were revaccinated and over 100,000 contracted the disease. Borovinic Bojovic said that the Ministry was monitoring all the recommendations of the World Health Organization to deal with the new wave and delta strain.

"The latest guidelines for monitoring and redefining the response to covid when it comes to delta strain have already been absolutely applied in the Commission for the fight against covid.  WHO experts in cooperation with members of the Commission, have been working on these guidelines for three weeks now, "the minister said.

Current capacities for kovid patients are KCCG 65 beds, hospital in Pljevlja 45, Cetinje 32, Bar 54, Bijelo Polje 58, Berane 42, Kororu 26, hospital Brezovik 15, Risan 13. However, in case the new wave occurs, capacities will increase.

"At any moment, the number can increase from the current 326 to 830 at any time, but the number is not final and can be significantly higher at any time," Borovinic Bojovic pointed out.
