Izetbegovic made an appointment with Nikolic
A member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bakir Izetbegovic supported normalization of relations between BiH and Serbia, stating that he had arranged with Tomislav Nikolic trilateral meeting of the Presidency BiH, and the President of Serbia and Turkey to be held in Brussels.
For the broadcast ''Seven'' Radio Belgrade, Izetbegovic said he recently met with Nikolic while waiting for reception by U.S. President Barak Obama in New York.
''We talked for about 40 minutes. It was a friendly, nice conversation. He is the one, as I have seen, open and honest man,'' said Izetbegovic.
He, however, recalled the earlier statement of Nikolic regarding Srebrenica, Hague indictee Ratko Mladic and the future of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which, as he said, were'' embarrassing'' and insulting to citizens of BiH, adding that the expects Nikolic to pay special attention when he chooses his words about the future of BiH, having in mind his role in the past.
'' We want to work on the normalization of the situation, of course, such words prevent us from doing that. We are simply shocked, as if someone sprinkle us with cold water,'' said Izetbegovic.
'' Serbs and Muslims have lived and would continue to live after what they have passed. Good relations, or bad ones, it does not matter .We live together, we make the state union, wage war and then again make government communities. It is time to draw the line here. These days we mark the various wars in these regions, in which both sides had terrible casualties. So, the time has come to draw the line and be smarter, to say "Come on now, let's make one- hundred- year peace,'' said a member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
In earlier media appearances, Izetbegovic accused Nikolić that strained relations between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia, adding that Nikolic's statements ''roughly assaults Herzegovina and insult its citizens''.
Because of the rhetoric of the Serbian president, Izetbegovic was refusing to meet him.
