The father of the attacker from St. Mark's Square was arrested

The Croatian police arrested 59-year-old Zdenko Bezuk, the father of a young man who seriously wounded a police officer on Zagreb's St. Mark’s Square yesterday.

The young man committed suicide after injuring a police officer.

As the Zagreb Telegram portal reported, Danijel's father was arrested after the police searched two locations in the Kutina area on Monday, where real estate owned by Bezuk is located.

Police Administration spokeswoman Maja Blazevic confirmed that two rifles with an optical aim and silencer and 1,169 pieces of various ammunition were found during the search.

Bazuk senior was arrested, as she stated, for the "illegal possession, production and procurement of weapons and explosives".

For now, there is no confirmation whether 22-year-old Daniel carried out yesterday's attack on St. Mark's Square with his father's illegal weapon.

The Index reported that the seized weapons could not be legally possessed in Croatia.
