SUNDIC IN GENEVA

We expect reduction of membership fees EBU for RTCG

Director General of Radio Television of Montenegro (RTCG) BozidarSundic attended the EBU General Assembly session held in Geneva. The meeting was attended by the top executives of public service broadcasters, representing both active and associate members of the EBU.

At the EBU General Assembly’s session, the proposed amendments to the EBU Statute were discussed, and the Executive Board and the EBU Director General reports adopted.

In addition to the regular session of the EBU General Assembly, the event was attended by Daniel Ek, CEO and founder of the Spotify, and International Olympic Committee Chairman Thomas Bach, who spoke about the future of Olympic sports.

One of the conclusions of the 83rd General Assembly was that a new model for calculating membership fees would be voted on at the Summer General Assembly in June 2020 in Dubrovnik.

"With the new model, we expect a reduction in EBU membership fee for RTCG," Sundic said.

The European Broadcasting Union has 70 active members in 56 countries and 34 associate members in 21 countries. The EBU is a global federation of public broadcasters and its headquarteres are in Geneva, Switzerland.

The main goal of the EBU is to secure a sustainable future for the public media, providing its members with content: news, sports and music, etc. The EBU also seeks to build on its established ethos of solidarity and collaboration in creating a learning and sharing center.

The current Director General of the EBU is Noel Curran. The European Broadcasting Union has been organizing the Eurovision Song Contest since 1956.
